Make hay while the sun shines  - John 12:35-36

So Jesus said to them, “For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.”

These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.  John 12:35-36

My dad used to say to me, “Make hay while the sun shines.” An expression many farmers know well. Get up and get going. Be productive while you have the opportunity. That is true not only for the moment, but also for the season. As age overtakes us, our bodies slow down and our strength and endurance wanes. Now, is the time to act. Not tomorrow.

From a spiritual perspective, we can relate this to not only to evangelization, but also to the building of our relationship and faith in Him. To anchor ourselves fast in Him and His love for us. To spend time getting to know His way – so that when the day comes when darkness clouds hide the way, we know it and can find it even then.

The objective of the work of Christ in our lives is to bring us into a close, personal relationship with Himself. One where He plants Himself in our hearts and radiates to the world around us through us. That we become sons and daughters of Light

And what is this light?

Truth and Love.

Exactly who Jesus is.
