A safe investment - John 10:12-15

The hired man is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when the hired man sees the wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired man. He does not care about the sheep.

"I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me. They know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I give my life for the sheep.

John 10:12-15

The people who matter to us are the ones we're invested in. As parents, we invest our time, money, emotions, and energy in raising our children. There's nothing we wouldn't do to ensure their safety, well-being, and future happiness.

Occasionally, people come into our lives who we might believe in or follow for a while. Still, eventually, we see their true colors and that their genuine concern is not for our best.

Christ has given us the assurance, validated by His sacrificial death for us, that He is on our side… He is for us… He does want our best. And the more time we spend getting to know Him, our bond deepens and strengthens. Our trust in Him grows, and we are willing to follow Him into places we would have never considered before with any other shepherd. Because we know Him – we know we are His – and because we are His – we know we are safe and cared for.

Whatever is threatening us today – whatever is uncertain, we can rest in the fact that Jesus loves us. And that He has promised to never leave us. And that He will use everything this life throws at us for our best.

He is profoundly and infinitely on our side. He is completely invested in us.

There is no safer place to be than in His care.
